Setup and Launch
Line up four performers and lock in the order: 1, 2, 3, 4. Get a topic from the audience — the more specific, the better ("first day at a new job" beats "work"). Lay out the rules for the audience too: one Irish-sounding melody, one line per performer per turn, four lines per verse, four verses total.
Before you start, hum a few bars together so everyone locks into the same key and tempo. Remind performers to keep lines short — if your line needs a second breath, it's too long.

The host takes the suggestion, confirms the order, and gives a clear count-in ("5, 6, 7, 8" or a hand clap).

Verse 1: Performer 1 sings line one, 2 picks up line two, 3 takes three, 4 closes the verse. Each line lands on one breath — don't bleed into the next person's entry.

Verses 2–4: The starting position rotates — verse 2 begins with performer 2, verse 3 with performer 3, verse 4 with performer 4. This means every performer both opens and closes exactly one verse by the end. The host keeps the pulse with a visible gesture or clap and cues the next singer if needed.

Ending: After verse 4 the host gives a clear cutoff gesture. Everyone stops together — a clean ending gets a bigger response than a trailing one.
If someone blanks or jumps out of order, the host redirects immediately by pointing or calling the number. Don't stop the music; patch and keep going.
Key rules
Lock into one melody and a steady tempo from the top. The host sets the pulse with a count-in and keeps it visible throughout — if the beat wobbles, the whole song falls apart.
One line per performer, one idea per line. If your line needs a second breath, cut it shorter — you'll eat into the next person's entry.
Keep line lengths roughly equal across all four performers. One long line throws off the meter and makes the next singer scramble to catch up.
Verse-start order rotates: 1→2→3→4. If anyone loses track, the host points or calls the number immediately — never stop the rhythm to sort it out.
