Bird-bird-bird

The group clearly beats out the "heavy" syllables (ptku/ptko/ptka...) at increasing tempo; you can stomp feet and conduct rhythms. Relieves tension, warms up breathing and speech/movement rhythm.

Full description

Setup and Launch

Place the group in a circle or semicircle so everyone can see each other and the host. Briefly state the goal: we cleanly beat out the "heavy" syllables β€” "ptku", "ptko", "ptka" β€” in a shared pulse, gradually increasing the tempo.

Agree on a base pulse: a light foot stomp or hand clap. The host "conducts" volume and speed; ask participants to rely on their breath so the sound stays clear and energetic.

Play

  1. Base pulse. Everyone holds the shared step/clap; on each beat one syllable from the set "ptku/ptko/ptka..." is spoken. Syllables β€” energetically, on the exhale, with a crisp consonant attack.

  2. Syllable cycle. Run through the sequence "ptku β†’ ptko β†’ ptka" several times in a row, maintaining shared rhythm and synchronized entries.

  3. Conducting. The host sets "louder/quieter", "faster/slower", "stop/start" with gestures. The group instantly adjusts without losing articulation clarity.

  4. Acceleration. Tempo increases gradually; as soon as diction starts to blur, the host slows down and returns attention to precision and togetherness.

  5. Close. On signal β€” a shared stop and exhale. Quick check: face warmed up, breathing activated, rhythm gathered β€” ready to move on to the next exercises.

Key rules

  • Stand in a circle/semicircle so the conductor is visible and the shared pulse can be heard.

  • Launch the base pulse with feet or claps; then add the syllables.

  • Speak "ptku/ptko/ptka" clearly and in sync, on the shared rhythm.

  • Speed up only on the conductor's gesture; if clarity breaks down β€” slow down.

  • All start and stop together on signal.
